A few months ago, I posted an image on Facebook that I almost overlooked.
It’s funny, but when I did the original edit from a photo shoot on a magical morning in Carlsbad, I almost didn’t see this shot. (This is easy to do because of the sheer number of raw and processed files that photographers need to keep organized these days.)
This image was nearly lost in my digital archives, destined to never come to light.
One day, a magazine called looking for a vertical cover shot of Carlsbad, so I went back through my files and found this image that fit their request.
I also posted it on my Facebook gallery page. I wasn’t really sure that it was all that good though…
I was blown away by a few things:
1.) How lucky I am to have such an engaged group of friends! Over 500 of you pitched in to help me name this print.
2.) Not one person said anything negative. Not one! That’s unheard of in this day of social media and speaks volumes about your character.
3.) You have a good eye, great ideas and some interesting stories in your Facebook comments.
Your feedback was truly fascinating! People saw faces in the wave, dragons, Edvard Munch’s The Scream, the face of Jesus… So many of you were powerfully inspired by this shot.
Over 500+ comments on a post that had a reach of 81,000 people with 500 shares and nearly 4,000 likes made me appreciate things I didn’t originally see in this image. You saw it though…
So I would like to thank you for seeing what I didn’t originally see.
As my way of saying thank you, I am launching this image as part of my October VIP Club.
As always, I’d love to know your thoughts.
