Sometimes when you take on a project, you really have no idea what lies ahead…
but you dive in anyway and shape what you see by creating images. In this case, I made my first film, Mission Rwanda.
It was a simple documentary about a group of high school students who set out to help an orphanage in Rwanda, yet were transformed by the joy they experienced from the people who seemingly had nothing.
What was supposed to be a 20 minute marketing piece, turned out to be a 90 minute documentary. Along the way, people were transformed. Eyes were opened, hearts were softened and perspectives (which are really the most powerful road map in life) were changed.
We submitted the film to the Apex awards and were happy to see that last week we won the Apex Award of Excellence!
Thanks to Tom Bennett, producer of Mission Rwanda and headmaster of Santa Fe Christian schools and to Barry Yee, our tireless editor. Thanks also to those of you who came out to the premiere last November.
For those of you who live far away, I wanted to send you a photo of our new gallery window. We have four new custom surfboards that are getting a lot of interest.
There’s lots more to see inside… so come by and say hello! We would love to see you. ~ Aaron
