I took this image at Ke iki beach on the North Shore of Oahu.
The north shore is incredibly special to me because I grew up spending the winters there with my family.
It’s somewhere I can continuously go back to and visit memories. This trip in particular was special to me because I was able to travel with my grandfather for the last time and learn about our family roots on the island. I will forever cherish the memories we made together on that trip.
That morning the sunrise created stunning pastels and light pink hues that expanded over the sea. I remember standing on the beach and taking in the beauty of the moment in front me. The way the water had shaped the dunes caught my eye because it created a unique depth in the image I was envisioning.
There is something so special about being the first person on the beach in the morning. To witness the vast expanse of untouched sand before the day begins. I hope to share the serenity I felt in this moment with the viewer.
