All of my life, I’ve been on a mission to find powerful waves…
The results of my wanderings are individual frames that capture fleeting pulses of energy.
On this recent trip to Washington state, I found an ultimately perfect scenario, with open ocean swells crashing up a cliff and climbing 40 feet up a rock wall…
… and as the water came down the cliff it formed a 6 to 8 foot wave as it went back out into the ocean.
When the timing was perfect, where the outgoing wave hit the incoming wave, it created a powerful explosion of water and sound, traveling 30-40 feet into the sky, shaking the very ground we were standing on.
The sound this break made with a giant winter swell was like a freight train bearing down — an unstoppable force.
My son, Saxon and I watched these waves for 8 hours one day. When I was ready to go, Saxon urged me to stay longer…
… It was during this time I captured my new limited edition release, Triumph.
Some waves are powerful and ominous… Scary, thick and dark.
This wave had the same power (and even more!), but with an awesome lightness and wonder that appeared against the dramatic black cliffs and lighthouse above.
To say it was picturesque was an understatement. It was truly mesmerizing…
… and the longer we watched the waves, the more we came away with a feeling of Hope and Triumph. It’s like we were filled up with the energy released by these beautiful fleeting giants.
I would like to introduce my two new limited edition releases: Triumph and Triton.
It’s my hope these two wave photos bring you hope and fill you with their light and energy the way they did with Saxon and me.
