Throughout my career, I’ve shot thousands of waves.
Some of my favorites have been the more powerful ones, barreling down on me while I’m swimming under them… or capturing them with my long lens on the beach.
I’ve probably logged tens of thousands of beach hours trying to capture the immeasurable beauty of the untamed wave.
I’d like to introduce one of my favorite releases — a mysterious image, one that intrigues me with its tonality and subtleties.
White Wisp was captured this winter in Hawaii on the North Shore. What makes it different is the ice blue tone of the wave melding with the grey mist off the lip.
Photographically, this image lays down, creating a sense of serenity and peace with its ombre tones.
Having swam under, through and over this particular wave all of my life, I can wholeheartedly say: Don’t be fooled! This wave is mighty and powerful. I’ve seen it break surfboards like toothpicks.
White Wisp reminds me of an unseen, unstoppable force.
This particular wave possessed beauty, majesty, grace and power….
Blink and you might miss it.
Turn your back and it might take you down.
Respect it… be in the right place at the right time and it will imprint itself onto your soul with its wild, untamed beauty.
There is nothing like this in my collection.
I hope it inspires you, bringing you peace and helping you to see the unexpected gifts that present themselves to us every day.
