Last week, Saxon and I headed out to the high desert for a reprieve. We needed a road trip photo shoot.
We spent the night gazing at the stars in Joshua Tree, in awe of their multitude and majesty. It was the perfect get away to press the reset button on life…
The antiquity of these gleaming gems in the sky and the billions of years it takes for their light to reach our planet is truly humbling. It put life into perspective for me.
Today I just wanted to share what I saw with you through my lens.
Have you ever been to Joshua Tree?
I find these ancient trees fascinating. Their age can range from 150 to 1000 years old. Take a look at this one:
I love how this tree forms an infinity sign… set against the vastness of space and infinite number of stars.
Our friend Bill helped us light these trees from the front, so you could see their green clusters against the night sky. I call this one Reaching…
This one (above) seemed otherworldly to me. For a moment I could imagine being on Mars.
After spending the night under the stars in the cold desert, we headed out to Carmel for a few days of surf, beautiful beaches and hiking.
Saxon captured this photo in Big Sur below. I’m so proud of this shot! Like all of Saxon’s work, this has a mystical fairy tale element to it.
