This has been a year like no other for ALL of us.
And… you might have noticed that we’ve had an increase in art “sales/promotions” in 2020, many delivered via email, and online advertising.
Some of you have had questions & comments about these offers & the frequency of the messaging…
The initial “uncertainty” presented to us in March (while closing both of our galleries with little notice & no strategy in place)…
… COULD HAVE been a death sentence for our business.
Our galleries were closed by state mandate for 10 weeks.
… so I wanted to write you a personal note to let you know where we have been coming from.
Prior to this period, our online store represented a tiny fraction of the business we generated in our galleries.
So… we had 2 choices:
1) Wait the shutdown out, hoping the liability from having empty galleries didn’t bankrupt the business (or bankrupt us)
2) Immediately “roll up our sleeves” and attempt to move the content/offerings from our galleries to 100% online during the shut down, hoping we would be able to open again soon.
As painstaking & costly as it was, after countless late-night discussions, Erika & I committed to giving every ounce of focus & energy we could muster… to OPTION 2.
Luckily, we started building our online art gallery years ago…
… but it wasn’t until the pandemic that these promos and your incredible support allowed our galleries to survive through what COULD HAVE been a very dark period for the Aaron Chang brand.
Creating monthly “value” offers, including our biggest promotion in the history of our galleries (our “Work From Home” Art Sale)……
… ALONG with the steadfast support of new/repeat collectors, who continued to purchase art while we were closed, gave us the momentum WE NEEDED to make it through the darkest days of 2020.
(and helped SAVE our business!)
All of you also INSPIRED US during this time.
You… each of YOU… helped REMIND ME of the essence of my purpose:
To create life-affirming art, which can uplift and inspire… even in the DARKEST of times.
(Especially in the darkest of times.)
Together… we were reminded of what the role of GREAT ART is in our lives.
And we were reminded that there is no more important role for art, during good times & difficult times alike, than to provide us a break from the world.
To remind us of the beauty of life, right here in our homes.
THAT…is why I love being an artist.
This simple, collective HUMAN craving for art’s healing/inspirational properties…
… allowed our galleries to survive during a global economic shut down and has allowed our galleries to thrive over the past 11 years.
And… for that… we will BE FOREVER GRATEFUL to you.
I also want to personally thank you for putting up with every email we sent out & every ad which may have appeared in your online searches or in your newsfeed.
Each one of those ensured our survival… and our ability to generate the revenue needed to weather 2020.
SO… HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR BUSINESS/GALLERIES?
We have a few more holiday offers/surprises up our sleeve, which we will share soon…
***In the meantime, please keep Aaron Chang Fine Art in mind when making holiday shopping lists for your friends, families and business associates.***
Please keep sharing your favorite Aaron Chang art piece online & on social media, so we can continue to inspire more ocean art lovers.
Your continued patronage & support not only helped saved our galleries and our US lab that manufactures the art…
… but helped my work to get into the hands of new people which helped ensure
our galleries’ survival and growth.
This mostly happens through promotions and holidays.
Even though our margins on these art sales are EXTREMELY tight…
… being able to change people’s lives for the better through art is why we do what we do…
So we ask with humility & gratitude to please consider gifting Aaron Chang art for friends, families and business associates on your list this holiday season.
We are in the process of putting together a very special Holiday Art Gift Collection to meet every price point… We will have more on that VERY soon…
Finally… Thank you for your unwavering support in 2020.
YOU helped our galleries to survive, creating a legacy of life-affirming inspiration to come.
