One of the things I really love about the photographic process is the Art of Wandering…
By Aaron Chang
This month, my family and our two saluki pups hit the open road with our new RV.
(It’s actually a mobile photo vehicle… which needs a name. Any suggestions?)
It was a new experience for us all… having everything with us while we travelled from place to place (AND being able to bring our pups with us) was really fun!
We started out from Carlsbad and went to Carmel (our favorite place!) where we spent some time in our gallery on Ocean Avenue.
From there we went on to the little town of Capitola, where our dogs ran on the desolate beautiful beaches, having a blast!
From Aptos, we drove on to Point Reyes Seashore National Park.
I was truly surprised by the rustic beauty of this desolate point. It reminded me the wide open grassy plains and rolling hills of Greenland.
Point Reyes has a very diverse and thriving wildlife population— elk, elephant seals and almost half of the US bird population — all in one place!
We drove up to the lighthouse, where the winds must have been 35 knots that day.
I brought my camera with me as we walked to the top of the cliffs, and was mesmerized by the patterns and colors of the waves smashing onto the beach.
Artistic designs ebbed and flowed on the beach, disappearing as quickly as they were created.
I was excited by what I saw and shot there for a few minutes, capturing my new abstract release, Wild Coast.
I love this shot because it captures the raw power and beauty of the open ocean.
