Over my lifetime, I’ve accumulated thousands of moments underwater.
What’s always intrigued me is the way waves look under the surface as they unleash their power…
The billowy cloud-like form upon the waves explosion is incredibly beautiful to me; it mirrors the sky, but with a hundred tons of power.
From the perspective of my new release, The Force, there is a calmness to the formation of underwater shapes when you see the piece as art, but really there is a massive amount of pressure in the moment.
Countless times, I’ve been tossed like a rag doll in the dominant grip of the wave’s turbulence, unable to rise to the surface until its power subsides.
There is a discipline of fighting back panic when encountering these moments…
…but also an understanding that this beauty could not be experienced without the incredible power that literally takes your breath away.
Counting the moments until you can get air, yet not wanting to leave — simultaneously.
To me The Force mirrors life. Yielding to the pressure without being broken by it…. then swimming ferociously to the surface, gulping lungfuls of oxygen. Grateful to be alive.
It’s my hope this art brings you peace amidst the chaos of life, reminding you to appreciate the joy of being alive.
