A clear cobalt sky is reflected in the pristine ocean off Carmel Beach. Captured from the water, this photo of the lip of a breaking wave encapsulates the pure beauty of the beach and skies from an underwater perspective. The ombré palette of blues fade to a bubble of bright sand from one of the most beautiful places on earth, Carmel-by-the-Sea.

A good photo is not made by getting lucky.
A good photo is the result of a concerted and persistent effort to be constantly shooting…
… constantly exploring the possibilities of what an image can be by experimenting with lens, exposure, composition and placement.
It can take thousands of failed tries to make a good image.
To make a good image it takes discipline and focus to overcome these failures and persist in the pursuit of your vision.
I’m very pleased to present our newest release, titled Azul, which was created by my son Saxon.
To say I’m a proud parent is an understatement, for I have been patiently waiting for Saxon to produce his next great image.
Over the last year, Saxon has been out there shooting thousands of photos which have resulted in dozens of good photos.
However, this breakthrough image, the great one, has eluded him…. Until now.
Azul is that great image.
Placing himself inside a breaking wave, Saxon has frozen an instant in time allowing us to examine the infinite beauty of water in motion.
The beautiful blues in this image are a result of a deep blue sky and the white sand bottom of the beach in Carmel where this image was captured.
I love the tonal change from deep indigo to light blue, each layer sparkling with life and abundance.
Almost abstract, the detail captured inside of this moment unveils an intimate connection to the power and energy of the ocean.
It’s that energy that keeps us coming back to refuel and recharge, again and again…
… and reminds us to appreciate the joy and beauty of being alive.
