For the past year, I’ve been looking at and thinking about ways to photograph Carmel, Monterey and Big Sur with a fresh perspective.
I was able to blend my recent interest in astrophotography to create a never-before-seen shot of the Milky Way rising over Big Sur…
… and when you’re out shooting, sometimes luck presents itself – like in my new Big Sur Milk Way shot, a squid boat just happened to be near the shoreline where I was shooting. I was annoyed at the time by the excessive light interfering with the stars but later realized that it lit up the coastline, which was brilliant and completely unexpected!
… or when 100 pelicans flew over me when I was shooting Carmel River Beach. It made the shot.
Collectively I feel like this may be one of the strongest photographic representations of the area that I could imagine.
I hope you find my new Carmel Collection inspiring and uplifting.
Please stop by my galleries to see these pieces in person.
As always, I’d love to know your thoughts!

Aaron
