When the fog finally goes away and summer sets in here in San Diego, the water becomes tropically warm and the south swells start moving in.
These balmy, Indian summer days are some of my favorite times to shoot.
I’ll never forget when I was 12 years old and my father took me to see the movie Endless Summer in an air conditioned theater in Imperial Beach.

Many years later, after having traveled the world for Surfing magazine, I met Bruce Brown. He asked me to shoot his portrait, which was such an honor for me! During that shoot, Bruce also asked me to shoot the movie poster for the Endless Summer 2 movie.
It was an unforgettable moment to see my photo used in the movie, which was the seed of inspiration for my life so many years ago…
