In this short video, I answer the question — how’d you get that shot? People always ask me: Were you in the water? Swimming? On a bodyboard?
One of my most critical secrets for water photography, one that I’ve NEVER shared, costs absolutely nothing — each one of us already has it!
Check out this short video below about how to capture these beautiful creations. Stop by and see it for yourself! In galleries, today or order online here.

Hi, I’m Aaron Chang. Today, you’re swimming with me at Torrey Pines State Beach. This is one of my favorite places to shoot water shots in San Diego because the valley funnels the wind straight offshore. The waves come ripping down the coast. It gets pretty hollow here. It’s a good place to shoot inside the wave shots and to do that, I use this housing on my Olympus camera with a fish eye lens. The fish eye lens gives you a very wide-angle perspective so when you’re inside the wave, you get to see all the things around you. It’s really a beautiful thing to watch.. One question I get asked all the time is how do you keep the pictures so clear. My method is to lick the port and then dunk it. The saliva actually causes the water to stay on the port but it’s optically perfect, allowing a really clear photo. Whoa, here’s comes a set. It was on a day just like today, only a little bit bigger, when I shot one of my favorite water shots. It’s a shot looking out of the barrel toward Torrey Pines and what’s amazing about the shot is people think that it’s some place super exotic and when they realize it’s in their own back yard, it kind of trips them out. One of my all-time favorites.
